Organ Replacement

The congregation's 1939 organ built by M. P. Mueller Co. was in need of replacement. A committee was formed by church council and has researched, studied and gathered information for two years. Proposals were requested from many organ builders. The committee's recommendation was presented to the church council on April 5, 1999. The church council approved a motion to recommend the proposal of Patrick J. Murphy & Assoc., Inc. to the congregation for approval. A congregational meeting for considering the proposal for approval was held on June 20, 1999 and approval was granted. Additional information and specifications for the organ are listed in the Dedication program and on the Patrick J. Murphy & Assoc., Inc. web site.

The basic cost of the organ was $192,323. There were additional costs for preparing the chamber, electrical modifications and other miscellaneous items estimated to total between $5,000 and $8,000. Therefore, the total estimated amount needed was approximately $200,000.

The congregation also approved the re-tiering of the choir area and the lower area in front of the alter. The estimated cost for this was $35,000. Additional costs for the dedication and miscellaneous items brought the grand total to $241,487.04.

In June 2003 the "trumpet" pipes are being replaced & re-voiced to obtain a brighter sound.
