Heavenly Helpers
The Heavenly Helpers, sometimes referred to as The Mission Team, was started in the Fall of 2006.  The team is a combination of volunteers from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sumneytown and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pennsburg.  When Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005, concerned members wanted to help our neighbors who suffered from disasters. Our first trip was to the Gulf in the spring of 2007. Since then we have sponsored two trips a year – one in the fall and one in the spring. We have helped our neighbors in need in the Gulf, Nashville, TN; Joplin, MO; Bloomsburg, PA; and the latest trip was to our next door neighbors on the Jersey Shore.

We are a group of volunteers with different skill levels and we guarantee you will increase your knowledge of building/remodeling homes if you participate in this project.

St. Mark’s calls this group The Mission Team because in addition to the bi-annual trips, we also do numerous local projects.  The latest being a partner in the Habitat/Thrivent Builds twin home in Hatfield Township.  We also support our Lutheran Church Camp – Beak Creek – in the Poconos.  Call the church office 215 679-9015 for further information on how you can show God’s love to neighbors in need.
